Topology Maps

In this NetXploreIt version, three types of network topology maps are provided: full network, VLAN specific, and subnet maps. Those maps are dynamic, i.e. you can freely move the icons to re-arrange the display by dragging and dropping an icon, and you can zoom in and out using the mouse wheel.

You can use one of four preset layouts by using the mouse’s right button and choosing one option from the dial like selector.

Full network map: use the “map topology layer 2” command for layer 2 map, or “map topology layer 3” for layer 3 map.

Layer 2 topology map labels each device icon with the device hostname and its management IP address. The links between devices will show the corresponding interface short names. Only connected interfaces are included in this map.

Layer 3 topology map labels each device icon with the device hostname. The subnet icon label shows the subnet IP address.

VLAN map: use the “map vlan id x” command, replacing the “x” with the required vlan number. Device icons are labeled with the device hostname and its management IP address. The links between devices will show interfaces connecting over this VLAN and their short names.

Subnet map: use the “map subnet ip x.x.x.x” command, replacing the “x.x.x.x” with the required subnet address. Device icons are labeled with the device hostname, the interface (or sub-interface) name and its IP address.
